The main event is a central venue league competition, held at a local secondary school, and run by the ECF PE team. The league involves a variety of schools (currently 24 teams from 17 schools) from around Exeter and the surrounding areas, and is free to enter for all schools. The league involves regular football fixtures throughout the school year against other primary schools, and is open to girls and boys from Years 4,5&6.
The teams are randomly split into three groups of 8- Group A, B & C. Each team plays against the other 7 teams in their group twice during the normal league season. At the end of the league season, the top team from each group is crowned group winners and are given a trophy to keep and display in their school. In addition, the top 2 teams from each group, plus the highest scoring two 3rd place teams from across the groups qualifies for the EPFL Champions Cup competition (see below for more details).
